I was reviewing the works of my classmates, specifically the one before me and after me. This would be Zayna and Lujane. When I was going through them I found some things that were pretty interesting with both of them being in the events that they went to. When I was going through Zayna’s portfolio I noticed that she went to Diwali, and to start her review she included this definition “a Hindu festival of lights, held in the period October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India.” When I went I had no clue what it was about or anything. It was interesting to see in the definition of Diwali that it is celebrated from October to November. Where I’ve always known of it to be celebrated on one day specifically. In Lujane’s portfolio the event I found interesting was The Quran & its Place in the Muslim Community where she stated the quote that really opened my eyes to read “The talk itself was intriguing, but it was everything that they didn’t say that was the most interesting part.” This was intriguing because the talk was going on when the war started. However, the tension made the talk more than what it was supposed to be. It was also interesting to hear that the speakers were scared to talk about the subject. When choosing a random person’s portfolio to read I chose Sultan’s. When reading his Humans? Reflecting on the first sentence really gives you a lot of things to think about. “The Middle East is one of the most misunderstood regions in the world.” This really makes things interesting and makes me put a lot of thought into it. Like all the controversy, all the negative connotations, and a lot of different opinions on one small part of the world.
